The article discuses the scientific/technological advancement in the are of medicine with the development of the Keyhole surgery. This is a type of surgery that is also known as laparoscopic surgery. It is a surgical technique that allows doctors to carry out operation with a very small incision. This is now possible with the development of very clear cameras, allowing surgeons to see inside the body. The excellent illumination provided by the laparoscope and the magnification obtained by using the system, allows fantastic views of certain difficult areas of the body and allows the surgeon to have access and good visualization in areas that with open surgery cannot be reached. This operation can be applied to different surgeries.
Will medicine become a branch of technology with it's over dependence?

Im not sure if the medcine is going to become branch of technology, but surely the technology is involving a lot more in medical area.
ReplyDeleteThe fact not only the keyhol surgery, robotic surgery, and more technology.
I personally love keyhole surgery because it seems to be really efficient, small incision can allow longer, safer operation to the patients as well as doctors.
I believe the Keyhole surgery is something doctors should take advantage. The fact that we are able to explore the human body in a deeper way allowing us to get to a great extent part of the body without making incisions will probably help doctors to open their minds to new solutions on the medicine field.
ReplyDeleteMedicine and technology are becoming more closely connected to each other but I believe there should be a balance between them. Since the over dependence may cause problems with the doctors whose jobs are taken away by IT systems.
Keyhole surgery with modern day technology is one of many examples of how technology has merged with the field of medicine, as Akira mentioned. I believe that using 1cm cameras that will go inside us is much better than having a 15cm scar on my body. Also This facilitates things, for the patient, when doctors have to perform delicate surgeries that involve precise yet small cuts in places deep inside our body.
ReplyDeleteTechnology has already been proven to be very accurate, and because of that we, people, are able to apply that technology in various field of area, in this case the medical area. It says that it can be applied to different surgeries, but what types of surgeries? Is it applicable to any type? or is technology still limited that it can be only applied to certain types of surgeries?
ReplyDeleteI think the Spider Pill is going to be the next generation of surgeries. If I was the patient that was going to get the surgery id rather swallow this pill knowing that there are going to be smaller incisions in my body and that the doctor can get a better look at what he or she is going rather than the regular surgery. Is it 100% sure that when the surgery is swallowed it will come out natural, there is a possibility that it will remain stuck in some part of my body and could cause serious problems?
