In Depth Robotics

This article talks about a robot called Paro which was developed mainly to help children with autism and it is considered the world's therapeutic robot. Many people are now trying to develop technology to help people, to minimize on burdens that nurses and doctors have to escort or babysit patient, in this it focuses on the field of robotics and how it is changing the way health care is delivered." Artificial intelligence, sees tremendous potential in robots as our population ages". Right now robotic companions are fine, but the technology needs to go beyond that. A good technology that these robotics have is that family members can talk to the person through the robots, so if the family can't go visit the person, it will be able to communicate through robots.

Do you agree on how robots can be an alternative on helping people?

  1. In my opinion, I disagree with the help of robots on autism because autistic children are mostly on their own world and routines. If a robot helps an autistic child, the child would not be able to be happy with a new routine and would not be able to follow what the robot is saying. For me, if you want a robot for autistic children, the robot should be spoken in the same language as an autistic child.
